Graduate Institute of Medical Humanities, Taipei Medical University

Article 1
The Graduate Institute of Medical Humanities (hereinafter referred to as “the Institute”) establishes these regulations to standardize the academic requirements for graduate students and to enhance the quality of thesis writing.
Article 2
The maximum period of study and leave of absence shall be handled in accordance with the academic policies of Taipei Medical University.
Article 3
Students must complete a minimum of 33 credits to graduate. The credit requirements are as follows:
Required courses: 27 credits (including 6 credits for the Master’s thesis).
Elective courses: At least 6 credits.
International students, upon approval by the Institute’s affairs meeting, may substitute required courses (excluding the 6-credit thesis) with courses of similar nature offered by other graduate programs within the university.
Article 4
Students must select a thesis advisor before the end of the second semester of their first academic year. For details, refer to the "Guidelines for Selection and Change of Thesis Advisor" established by the Institute.
Article 5
Students must submit a draft of their thesis according to the schedule announced by the Institute.
For students admitted in or after the 2021 academic year, a proposal summary reviewed and approved under the “Thesis Proposal Review Guidelines” must be submitted.
In addition, students must fulfill the Institute’s English graduation requirement before applying for the degree examination.
The final thesis draft must be reviewed and approved by the thesis advisor at least one week prior to the degree examination.
The thesis topic must fall within the professional domain of the Institute.
Article 6
The completed thesis must be submitted to the examination committee members at least one week before the scheduled oral defense.
Article 7
Students must fulfill one of the following English graduation requirements:
Attain at least B1 level (intermediate) on a recognized English proficiency test, in accordance with Appendix II of the “TMU Graduate Student English Proficiency Certification Guidelines.”
Complete and earn credit for at least one course taught by a foreign faculty member at the Institute.
Article 8
Any matters not addressed in these regulations shall be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education and Taipei Medical University.
Article 9
These regulations shall be implemented upon approval by the Academic Affairs Meeting and promulgation by the University President. The same shall apply to any amendments.
