The basis of my research lies in investigating causes and consequences of health and illness and their relevant social contexts. Specifically, recent projects center on the effects of social locations, social relations, and cultural beliefs on an individual's healthcare choices. Much of my work gives special attention to CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) due to its rising popularity and controversy. Given the domination of biomedicine in most societies, I am particularly interested in understanding reasons behind users’ endorsement to CAM as well as their evaluation of the effectiveness of CAM in relation to biomedicine.
