" Receiving care and cultural safety: The promises and limitations of the Indigenous Health Act"
This talk explores the public health considerations of the need for an “Indigenous Health Act”, which was finally adopted in May 2023 in Taiwan. The human rights implications of the new law should not be underestimated, although the final act is far from satisfactory for advocates and Indigenous communities due to the vagueness and a rather declaratory nature of texts. This talk will also reflect on the methodological and ethical accounts arising from the design and implementation of a USR (university social responsibility) project for advancing cultural awareness among health professionals and cultural safety of health promotion activities.
