Social Science Research Assistant (masters degree level)
The Graduate Institute of Humanities in Medicine (GIHM) at Taipei Medical University (TMU) is seeking a full time research assistant (RA) to work with Dr. Malissa Kay Shaw on a Ministry of Science and Technology funded research project. The project is for three years and aims to explore the social significance of menstrual cups both from the perspective of producers of the products and women who use them. The RA will be responsible for
assisting Dr. Shaw in the analysis of company websites, the development of interview guides, conducting semi-structured and open-ended interviews with employees of menstrual cup companies and women who use the cups, assisting with the analysis of the collected data, helping to draft manuscripts and research reports, and carrying out administrative tasks. Training in data collection techniques or qualitative data analysis will be provided by Dr. Shaw if necessary. Other duties may also arise during the course of the research project.
Required skills include:
- Masters degree in the social sciences
- High proficiency in both English and Mandarin
- Experience conducing or knowledge about qualitative research, specifically
conducting open-ended interviews
- Confidence in discussing personal experiences with others
Desired skills include:
- Masters degree in anthropology or sociology
- Experience conducing open-ended interviews and qualitative data analysis
- Experience using ATLAS.ti Qualitative Data Analysis Software
- Experience writing research reports
- Flexible working schedule
